Finding God in The Hobbit - Jim Ware

Thousands have been captivated by the spiritual themes that underlie Tolkien's imaginative fiction. In Finding God in The Hobbit, Jim Ware, co-author of the popular "Finding God" series, indulges readers with an exploration of the  spiritual significance of J. R. R. Tolkien's famous children's classic. As they are acquainted with Tolkien's message of transcendent truth reader will see how God is mysteriously at work even in everyday moments. A reflection summarizes each chapter's main insight.
Bibliography included. (From Amazon.com)
This book is about J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, but it's also about the author's own personal insights into the book and how to appreciate and apply the themes from The Hobbit to our everyday lives.
When I first started this book I was finishing up The Hobbit , so everything was still very fresh in my mind (I would definitely recommend re-reading right before reading this book, it helped keep my concentration a lot better than if I hadn't read it in quite a while).
This is not a book you read before reading The Hobbit. If you haven't read The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings trilogy you would be lost.
I wanted to read this book 1 chapter a day, but since I was a little cramped for time it didn't always happen, but it would make a wonderful devotional!
At the end of each chapter (which are really short) there is a little thought to reflect on that basically sums up that chapter. I really liked those! They kept me thinking for most of the day. I also liked the authors insights and I found myself loving The Hobbit even more.
I think this book is really deserving of a re-read! It was a really cool read. I highly recommend it to fans of The Hobbit!
This book was provided to me by Tyndale House Publishing in exchange for my honest opinion.
